Cynthia
Oswald is currently President of the
Livingston County Chamber of Commerce.
Before stepping in as Chamber president
in March 2004 she was the director of
the Livingston County Business/Education
Alliance. The Chamber and its affiliate,
Livingston County Education Alliance,
which Cynthia is executive director
of, facilitate over thirty programs
and initiatives, which include an extensive
insurance program for members and the
county Tourism Office and Visitor Center.
Cynthia
serves on eighteen local boards and
committees, including the Livingston
Cares Board as an honorary founding
member, which provides long-term rebuilding
support for Harrison County Mississippi
after Hurricane Katrina. She is currently
serving on the Chamber Alliance of New
York State board of directors, and has
recently been invited to serve on the
New York State Commissioner of Health,
Dr. Richard Daines' Prevention Agenda
Leadership Group. She was honored by
the New York State Department of Labor
JSEC Committee in 2003 as Livingston
County's Business Person of the Year
and was appointed as United Way Chair
for Livingston County in 2006. Cynthia
has a seat at the national level on
US Congressman, Chris Lee's Small Business
Committee and the United States Chamber
of Commerce, Council on Small Business
in Washington D.C.
In
November of 2009 she traveled, as a
Citizen Diplomat, to the Eastern Region
of Ghana (New Juaben Traditional Area)
to support the creation their first
Chamber of Commerce, Women's Leadership
Committee and Young Women's Leadership
Club.
She
is currently working on an e-commerce
agricultural African pilot program and
a sustainable housing project with the
Daasebre of the New Juaben who is a
United Nations Commissioner. This past
month Cynthia was recognized as a 2011
Athena Award finalist by the Women's
Council of Rochester.
As
president, Cynthia oversees all work
of the Chamber which serves the Chamber's
mission of, "Promoting business
development and quality of life in Livingston
County".
Cynthia has a BA in Human Services,
Certificate in Nonprofit Organizational
Management from the United States Chamber
of Commerce Northeast Institute at Villanova
University and experience in public
relations/marketing, leadership development,
politics, advocacy and educational experience
from preschool teacher to college faculty.
