Our hometown
communities are just off western New York's only north-southbound
four lane expressway, Interstate-390 (exits 4-10). Livingston
County is also easy to get to from exits 45-47 from the New
York State Thruway, making natural choices even more convenient
for motor coach tours and family vacations through the Finger
Lakes and Western New York.
Livingston
County is within a one hour drive south of Rochester, north
of Corning Glass, and east of Niagara Falls. The County is
nestled in the heart of the beautiful Genesee River Valley
in the Finger Lakes Region.

If
celebrating our rich heritage is to your liking, we
suggest Avon's Five Arch Bridge, which served to promote
commerce in the early years of our County's development.
You may wish to stroll along the streets in the Village
of Geneseo with its friendly college town atmosphere
or shop the antique shops along the Routes 5&20
trail from Caledonia to Lima. The American Red Cross
was founded right here and you can visit Clara Barton
Chapter Number One in Dansville where it all began.
Come see and feed the fish at New York State's oldest
fish hatchery in Caledonia, then smell the heavenly
aroma of our famous Monks Bread baked by the Trappist
Monks in the Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard.

Every
year, over one million people visit Letchworth State Park
to take in the breathtaking gorges, colorful foliage, and
extensive trail system. The park also offers picnicking, swimming,
and unique sightseeing all year long.

Letchworth
State Park
On
the other side of Letchworth Park in historic Mount
Morris, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates
the Mount Morris Dam. Free public tours are available
to groups of any size. In 1999, a state-of-the-art
Visitors Center opened. Also in Mount Morris, visitors
can see the home of the author of the "Pledge
of Allegiance," Francis Bellamy, or tour the
distinguished Mills Mansion.

The
great outdoors is important to the people of Livingston
County. We have 24 waterways including trout streams,
ponds, lakes and the Genesee River. The state's oldest
fish hatchery was founded in Caledonia by Seth Green
in 1870. To this day, families come to the hatchery
to see the varieties of fish and to enjoy the groomed
pathways behind the main buildings.

In
September, thousands of outdoor enthusiasts come to the
annual Hunting and Fishing Days at the NYS Department
of Environmental Conversation offices in East Avon. The
event features hunting, fishing, and camping demonstrations. |
