The Winter Discovery Series at the Mount Morris Dam presents Harriet Newell Austin: An Unconventional Life. Historian Jane Oakes will explain how Austin fought her entire life for women to have the freedom to choose their own career, have educational freedom, take charge of their own health, and dress for practicality, not fashion. She was one of the first women to earn an M.D. in Hydropathy, and was a major component in the success of the Our Home of the Hillside water cure in Dansville. Harriet Austin and Clara Barton become close friends and lifelong corespondents.
